eZip rear wheel bearings:
I was surprised to find that my rear wheel could chuck ~ 1/4 inch at the rim. I was tipped off by intermittent brake squeal at startup before the wheel found its groove. I don't guess a goove is a good thing.
My bike is only a year and three months old. It has gone 2,900 miles but I still don't expect this kind of "wear". Anyway the grease is good, the bearing is clean and NOW adjusted properly.
But working on the rear wheel bearings is a problem. The fact that there are freewheels on both ends of the axle makes disassembly, reassembly difficult. I kinda kluged it, but would like to find the proper freewheel removal tool. The motor freewheel is one of those super cheap ones that you often destroy removing. There is no spline, just two holes for a pin spanner.
The seven sprocket freewheel is better, says Shimano China. Edit: I'm leaving my first guess here (below)til I know, but my best guess is a FR - 1 it's for Shimano and the one on the eZip is labled MF-TZ07 and is in the Shimano data sheets on the web.
Old guess:
It looks like it might work with a Parks FR-7 freewheel tool which is for Falcon freewheels. Its ID is about 22mm and looks like the same # of lands.
I've ordered one.
Has anyone else been through this?
