Since you're putting one a bike that was originally rigid give him the one w/ the smallest axle to crown measurement.

It looks like the one in the left of the picture says RST on it. The one on the right says Rock Shox. In todays world, Rock Shox are far better than RST.

Well I am new to this, but the only positive thing I have heard about RST is that they are cheap, oh and apparently the make good slingshots. The preload on mine had no effect, not that it matters since the nob broke off. But I guess it is open for debate.

I was just giving you a bad time. The low-end OEM RST product is like others' low-end offerings: steel stanchions, no damping and breakable plastic bits. RST does make a hig-end line, though, that is rarely seen, especially in the U.S.
