Classic & Vintage - This is worse than a bad drug habit!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Bought ANOTHER bike. :bang:
That's 4 bikes in about a week and a half.
I need intervention.
And I thought modifying cars was an addictive hobby!
Will post more pics when it arrives. My apologies to anyone here that I outbid.

"addict", meh! That's the oppressor-man's word.
You're just on a roll, is all. This is the season when bikes are ridden, bought and sold, enjoy it :)
Well, as addiction, yeah; but if you ride one now and then its actually GOOD for you!

lol. I feel comforted already.
I'm going to keep saying that to myself so I don't go into withdrawal.

I should think so: according to that economics article in the NY Times, you've beaten the "average price" for a used bike in your town and that's a much better-than-average bike!
Problem too is, most classic bike components aren't really that individually expenesive, specially if you are not looking for the top of the line stuff like Campy SR, Mavic SSC and Dura Ace gruppos. so you are led to believe that you are not spending too much till you start adding all the stuff you bought to restore your bike.

ur telling me, its worse when u cant actually afford the components, but want them regardless. If i had never discovered this hobby, I woulda been a happy camper, walking around everywhere...now im scared of the winter starting up, because i don't knw how I'm going to make it to classes :(
Well, I bought three in the last six days, but I also sold four. So I am "down" one. It has gotten tougher to find good flippable bikes around here for sure. I ended up flipping two MTBs, one hybrid, and one vintage road bike. Earlier, I had the no hybrids/no mtbs "rule".
At least my three latest pickups are all vintage road bikes.

You did very well. What do you think you want to do with it? How many do you have now?

4 in a week? I thought I was badI bought 1 new, one used and frame in last few months. I have seen plenty more I would like but they get bid too high or the seller wants more than it sold for!
I do not believe new tape and tires justifies an asking price of 475 on a 20yo bike that only sold for 400 LOL

The ironic thing is that, I was not even planning on bidding/winning it.
I was just surfing fleabay 2 nights ago. Minding my own business just window shopping when I stumbled across the bike. Only 4 bidders and the price was low. I wanted to monitor the auction just to see what it sold for.
Fast forward 2 days, the bid was still pretty low and about 2 hours left. I got trigger happy and said "Heck, i'll bid $205 (which I thought was pretty low for the condition it was in, although not perfect) just for the hell of it".
I ended up winning it. I'm going to keep this one the way it is. Untouched. Ride it and keep it clean.
So far I have 6 bikes, including a non vintage 2006 Specialized Hardrock Pro.
I think i'll have to stop for a little.

That's a beautiful example of a Trek frame - you had to buy that! Or else I would have. My 560 Pro's frame looks very much the same, except mine's green.
My bike addiction is like crack I can't stop collecting them and wont give it up. Theres bikes crammed into sheds in my yard, behind tree. behind sheds, randomly graizing in the yard. even two in my room!
