41 years old, type II diabetic, 298 pounds, and I still easily rode 50 miles today (50.19 actually). If I can do it then almost anyone can get into good enough shape to do it. My speed was only about 12.5 mph, but then I did go a bit slower for a friend who hasn't had much time on bike this summer. Not his fault sick parents and some health issues himself. My trek 7.3 did great, and I even added about 10 pounds due to carrying my trunk rack full of stuff. Next goal is a metric century. I love riding!

WOW thats awesome!!! Congrats!!!
I have a trek 7.3 as well and I seem to be stuck at the 15 mile mark, but then again I have only been at this for 3 weeks..
I average about 15 miles an hour and totally bonk about an hour into it. I guess I should stop and stretch my legs every so often. Then again, 95 degree heat does not help... Either way, kudo to you sir....

That is an awesome achievement, bigboybiker!:thumb: I know if I keep at it I will get there someday, maybe not too long. You are an inspiration to me.:)

That is very good. 30 miles have been my longest since starting in November, but I have logged the most 20+ miles in this month than I have since November to now combined. So, I am seeing progress albeit slow. Looking forward to my first 50.

That's awesome. When I topped 50 miles, it was my longest ride ever. :)
