I guess the bigger question is: Why does it matter?

Aren't we all under the belief that one should make the bike most comfortable as possible? That fit and comfort are above everything else? Ergos work for some and traditional curls work for others. In the end, it's like worrying about someone's choice of underwear.

My point is it's another one of those "we been suckered into buying this........" stories.

One minute we're told that ergos are the biggest thing, so every Joe Schmoe (like me) buys them, but now they seem to be disappearing from the peleton. I can't remember the last time I saw non-ergo bars in a shop or out on the road.

don't like ergos. I have small hands for a guy....they make it hard to reach the levers.

I agree. It's annoying that the percentage of non-ergos in bike shops doesn't match the higher percentage in the pro peleton

Call me crazy, but the bike in this pic has the number 11 on it. Isn't that Hincapie's ride? So maybe Lance switched further back than you realized (though I have heard he prefers traditional bars).

give this man a medal! you got it right :) Lance's # was 11 and the bike was the same paint scheme...

altho with the Madone - you can't really tell if it is SL or SSL :D
