I need a Suntour WINNER GOLD 13-28 5 speed. Anybody know where I can find one that wont cost and arm and a leg?

Trying to restore this bike as much as possible.

Other than crud, is something wrong with it? The teeth I can see are nice and square. It might clean up nicely.

You know, to me, it looks like its in good working order. And I counted 6 cogs....don't know for sure but doesn't the "Ten" in Seven Ten mean it's a ten speed, which means the cassette has five cogs?

As for the derailluer, I bought a NOS ... EXACT duplicate!!! I should be getting it in a day or two.

By the way, I bought this bike for $5!! I have pictures posted on this thread...

New chain too. Looks a little "stiff."

I've got this:

The one on the right is a SunTour Pro Compe. It's a close ratio straight-block (14-15-16-17-18), but it's in great shape. PM me if interested.

Not necessarily. What I've read in several Miyata threads now is that while there may be some coincidental coordination between the model name/number and the number of gears that the bike has, there are also known examples of the gear count differing. In other words, if you convert the bike to 5 cogs you might not have a correctly outfitted bike when done.

But I'm not any expert on these things. I say run it as a 2x6 until or unless you find proof that it's supposed to be a 2x5 setup.

I'm counting 6 in that catalog photo. By the way, the bike as sold at the LBS may have varied slightly from the catalog specs. See the note at the bottom of that page: "Specifications subject to change without notice." Not that there's anything wrong with trying to build it up according to catalog spec.

Ah yes, the ever popular "small print".

At this point, I am going ot throw something on there ...have given up hope of replacing it exactly.

Bummer cause I found an exact replacement for the rear drailluer.
