Eastern Canada - Good online bike stores in Canada

I have a few bike stores in my favorites, but I would like to buy from Canadian stores, anyone know of any?

The only one I've heard of is https://bikepartscan.com/. I haven't ordered from them yet so can't comment on the experience, and to be honest their selection seems somewhat limited, but they are Canadian.

Nope, but I live in Canada and I saved about a $100 on an Ionos helmet after shipping, exchange and Duty ($13) from pricepoint.com

When buying from US only use places that will ship by USPS, otherwise the brokerage fees will kill you (maybe only bankrupt you).

MEC is good for what they carry. Additionally, they will only charge shipping once on back ordered items.

I've avoided customs fees buying from stores on eBay.ca in the past. Sometimes the shipping cost can be a bit silly though.

Both have wide selections. I've bought a few items from each with no grief at all

There are no good ones. All of them are in the u.s and my usual favourite for roadies stuff is www.probikekit.com and www.worldclasscycles.com for tyres/tubes. Chucks used to be good for closeout stuff but now they're gone.

Haven't ordered from them yet and i was disappointed to find they are JUST over the border, but their web site is promising for the stuff I'm into:

http://www.biketiresdirect.com/ is not Canadian but I have used them to get stuff (tires. tubes, bar tapes, saddles) from time to time. They have the option to ship via USPS which I use all the time to avoid getting dinged by brokerage fees. They also know how to ship to Canada so duties are "minimized". The only downside is it takes about a week for the shipment to arrive.

NAFTA is alive, the problem is, like most legal agreements, some things are covered and others are not, so there is paperwork that needs to be done. Customs brokers are the ones that do the paperwork, and they typically charge a percentage fee for their services, with a minimum. Some brokers charge as much as $50 as a minimum fee. The post office charges I think $5 as a minimum. With the Beaver buck as high as it is now, buying something in US$ isn't so bad,

What many US companies do, is they sign a deal with a logistics company, basically what they do, is clear stuff in larger quantities so that it is cheaper.

Here is how it works, Joes Bicycle company, ships a lot to Canada, they take their Canadian shipments, put labels on them, stack it on pallets and ship the pallet to the logistics companies US induction point. The logistics company puts that pallet in a trailer with some other companies pallets, everything destined for Canada, they prepare a manifest and other customs paperwork, for the trailer as if it was a single item. It goes through customs, the trailer is then dropped at the logistics companies Canadian warehouse, they pull the pallets apart, apply waybills and pack it into another trailer that goes to a courier in Canada for delivery. Sometimes when the logistics company is part of a courier, the waybills are applied in the US, there is no Canadian warehouse, the trailer is dropped at the courier directly.

It makes it easier because customs is less expensive for the shipper in larger quantities, and some companies will have a Canadian website and catalogue, even though everything is shipped from the US.

I've purchased recently from bicyclettesdehull.com. And being in Quebec, I only have to pay GST.

I wasn't aware bikesdirect shipped to Canada? Did you make a special request or was it a straightforward process?

That would still be quicker than Velotique... nice people and good stuff, but boy, does it take a while for them to get stuff to you.

Anyone else have any other sites they can share?

I try and shop online for prices and selections and then have my local shop order it if they can get near the price. I don't mind spending a buck or two more if I can help out my local shop...wthin reason.
