I wonder how well these guys sleep. With sleep being the most important unmentioned aspect of racing a mutli stage race, I wonder how easy it is for them to fall asleep at night. After a hard day of riding do they fall asleep as soon as they hit the pillow or do the pressures and anxieties of the race keep them awake at night. I can see how one night of restless sleep could easily ruin the next day of racing.

I heard LA say the other day that he prefers the wet weather of this year's tour over the heat of last year's because he had trouble sleeping last year. Dude makes millions per year and he didn't have a room with AC?

The way I think of it is, their bodies are so calm and efficient that they generally shouldn't have much trouble with sleep... that if they did, they probably wouldn't be pro cyclists in the first place.
This is OLD, but I wonder if LA still uses a tent and if he is allowed it during Le Tour ...

True. 200km, big meal and a massage will wipe out anyone.
I think we can safely assume that those with injuries from falls have trouble sleeping. We've all had road rash, lost skin, etc, and it's so hard to get comfortable. Like some of those guys wrapped up like mummies. That must be tough. Like poor Tyler with his collarbone last year- how he was able to sleep at night is beyond me! It's not like you can take Darvocet!.
