Classic & Vintage - Gemini by Henri DePierre

I have just acquired a very nice old steely with a Gemini Special Tour de France decal on the downtube and a head sticker that reads 'Built by Henri Depierre of Paris'. It is a light frame - a bit over over two kilos with forks in place and has mainly Shimano DuraAce components with a sprinking of Campagnolo bits (levers, hoods, cassette). I'd like to do a decent rebuild on it so need info on its pedigree etc. Anybody heard of Henri DePierre? Any guesses on age? It has a Shimano Crane rear derailleur, and a Rigida front rim with an anonymous hub and a Simplex skewer. Rear wheel is almost certainly not original. Seat post is a mile long with a GoFast logo. Bars and stem not original but I'm told by the previous owner that they were originally Cinelli. Any information or leads welcome.

I have managed to date the thing via the Shimano components and the codes. All seem to be from 1976, various months, so I reckon it was sold in late '76 or early '77. The Campy cassette is much later but seemed to work OK with the DuraAce/Crane derailleurs. The bike is stripped at the moment being prepared for painting. I'll do it the same colour - a sort of greenish grey - and have a friend in the business make up some replica decals. The originals were in very poor condition but I took lots of photos and measurements before they were stripped. I'll post soem photos when it's done.

Thanks for that. One of the things I'm trying to ascertain is the type of tubing he used. On one of the pics in Norris Lockley's site it looks as though it could be Columbus, but Depierre seemed not to put tubing decals on his frames. Also, nobody that I can find does replica decals - not even Cyclomondo in Oz, and he has just about everything!
The frame has been stripped and etch primed and is now ready for the final coats of colour. I'll post some photos when it's done.
