hi guys, heres a question for those of you with discs - how long does it take you to wear out pads on your bikes? mine did in some 1000 kms of cross country (ive got magura julie brakes) - I was kind of hoping they'd last bit longer :(

Depend on the compound and how much a rider uses them.

obviously. compound is stock, pads were the ones i bought with brakes, and I never made an attempt to make disc glow. This time round ive bought some set of more durable EBC pads (at least, thats what it says on the package:D ). Anyways, im curious as to how long they last for others.

I'm so fast, I never use my brakes, so my pads are like new! (Please Note Sarcasm here!)
I don't know about milage, but I replace my pads about every 6 months for the fronts and about ever 9 for the rears.

Well one way to prolong the life of brake pads is remeber you have front brakes too. By using them you save the trail fron erosion and you save you rear brake pads from unneed wear. Just don't slam on the front brakes. That is NOT fun.
