Has anybody ever tried to use a short hose with a mini-pump? I've read about (and experienced) the valve stem rips from over-aggressive use of a hand pump directly attached t the valve stem. It seems that a 6" or so hose with a valve stem type fitting on one end and a presta head on the other would be a good idea. It wouldn't turn a mini into a road morph, but it would ease stress on the valve stem.

I donated all my minipumps to the Salvation Army a few years ago on grounds that they were crap, but one of them did have a hose like that. Can't remember the brand, though, and I've given up on minis because they all seemed to take 400 strokes to do what my Road Morph or hpX could do in about 95.

I found a pump made by Lezyne that has a hose that fits both schrader and presta, but the hose fitting is proprietary so only works with their pumps.

Does anybody have experience with these pumps?

I needed an alternative to carrying 4 bottles of Co2.
Went with the mini morph attached to the underside of the handlebars on my moto cf.
Have had to use the MM several times (both on my tires and others..it's been a rough riding season with all the wet road hash)and was pleasantly supprised at how well it worked. 100 psi was about it's limit but that was good enough.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Why don't you make one for yourself? Then you can report to the rest of us how well it works.

Start with a replacement hose of your choice that has a presta chuck on one end. Force a presta stem from a used up inner tube in the other end and clamp it with a small hose clamp. It would definitely eliminate the side-to-side pressure from pumping.

I played with several of their pumps at a demo booth, they worked great. They also have a hose that has a built-in gauge in it for the hand pumps, slick. When you look at their stuff it is quaility stuff, not all plastic.

I think I have the same Lezyne pump. I love it. When I was temporarily without a floor pump it was my only pump and it worked great except for not having a gauge.

Lezyne makes a replacement hose with a gauge in it. http://www.lezyne.com/index.php/products/hand-pumps/pen-gauge.html
