ive been told that the only thing i can really do is flush out the freewheel a couple times instead of getting in it, is there a particular solvent i should use or shouldnt use? what is a good one to ue?

WD40 or Mineral Spirits (WD40 is a high percentage Mineral spirits). BE CAREFUL SPRAYING WD40 AROUND A BIKE!

Drip chain lube into the thing until it's running out. Spin the parts and repeat several times to flush out crud.

Biodiesel is an excellent solvent and is not hard on the environment. Drop the part(s) into a container, fill until covered, let sit overnight. In the morning, shake it around in the fluid and let the crap fall out. Allow all biodiesel to dry, or drain as much possible. Then lube with your favorite hypoid oil or similar.

Do not let biodiesel come in contact with paint, it will strip it off. Thus the drying/draining period.
