Because I'm having trouble with rust on my Bottecchia,

I'm tentatively considering buying this Centurion Ironman Xpert aluminum bike on Craigslist (currently $250).

What size is your Bottecchia? The Ironman looks taller, will it fit?

Where is your pic taken, your tagline location states upper Cali but the pic looks more like northeast Wyoming, long ride to get a nice picture.;)

There are easier ways to deal with rust, unless you're in a seaside community.

My thoughts are that the current Ironman owner will be very happy with the swap.

Might be a good time to move up a size, given the amount of stem you have showing on the Bottecchia.

I don't know the size yet, I've sent an email requesting more info.

That photo is from a recent cross-country trip (http://carbiketrip.blogspot.com), from a great ride starting at the campground at Devil's Tower.

I am about 300 yds from the pacific ocean. Everything here either rusts or molds (or both).

I've got a relative who lives in a small cabin on the Washington coast about an hour from one of the rain forests up there, front yard is the high tide line, so I know full well what your situation is now.

Aluminum gets that oxidation thing going on as you probably know with your rims. What about titanium or (brace yourself for a C&V shudder) maybe a c/f frameset?

Edit:
Found the CL post for that bike. Says he's not firm on the price so show up on his doorstep with $150 in your front pocket and see if he'll go for it. If not then pull another $50 from a different pocket and tell him that's your gas money to get home.

Have you considered a frame swap with someone? Might be worth a try in the ISO/WTB thread. There should be someone around the site with a rustless frameset who'd like to trade for your Bott.

LOL. Right. That's more related to keeping my old neck happy than fitting my bike.
