Tonight's ride is called "Beach Blanket Bikealong". The map and route directions can be found on the SJBP web site, but many are having trouble opening them from the "Ride Announcements" section. Instead, go to the "For Drivers" section and click on the "HERE" link in the text.
Many steps have been taken to make it a safer and more pleasant ride this month. Check it out!

Last one had fights and crazy drunks. It doesn't sound like a cycling event, it sounds like trouble.

Last one had ONE person freak out about getting squirted by a squirt gun. That's it. Yes, there were drunks. There are just as many drunks on the street any Friday night in North Beach. There were a few wipeouts, but nobody needed a helmet to "save their life".
It's a great time! So is Critical Mass in San Francisco, regardless of one's view about their politics. The vast, vast majority of participants in both rides are just fun loving bicycle riders. You'll see waaaay more belligerant drunks at most professional sports events. THOSE drunks start RIOTS!
