Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi,

So I'm planning a ride from downtown Milwaukee to the Gurnee/Grayslake area. I can get down to Oak Creek with no problem, but after that I am mostly at a loss :(

I am trying to piece together sections of the route others have suggested in different threads, but if someone has done this before (Which I'm sure someone has at least done Milwaukee - Chicago) I would love to get some road info.

Thanks!

You can ride just about any road down to the Cheddar Curtain and it's okay. Once you cross the border though, all bets are off. I don't think there is anything ridable down there! We used to ride from Milw. to Antioch, but the roads were either gravel or heavy with boat towing pickups.

Ask TurboTurtle for Gurnee/Grays lake.

Use this to get to the NorthShore: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/il/-lake-&-cook-county/410125088092413471

A bikepath runs along Rt 176/RT43/Rockland Ave in Libertyville and continues along the RR tracks in Lake Forest.

This route will connect you to the North Branch Bike path and that will take you to the north side of Chicago.
