I just purchased a Miyata. It is one of the touring models, but it has been repainted. I got the Serial off the bottom bracket shell - J926278. Does anyone know how I can figure out the model/year?

T-mar helped me out but you might want to post some pictures so we can see...also, Google 'Miyata catalog' and you should hit a blog page. The guy has a ton of brochures (original) for Miyata bikes .... it pretty much helped me figure out what year mine was (1983)...then of course T-mar confirmed it.

It was made in 1981 but is a very high serial number and almost certainly a 1982 model. Check the on-line catalog mentioned abopve or post overall pic with detail pics of lugs, fork crown, dropouts, any brazed-on bits.
