Hello, I just stumbled upon a bunch of NOS Campagnolo C Record parts. I am about to make an offer for the parts and wanted it to be an educated one.

The owner has two sets of the following parts. The cobalto brakes and RD are first generation C Record, but I believe the remaining parts are 2nd generation. The owner was given these parts for free.

Cobalto brakes
Hubs - 32 hole
FD
RD - 1st generation
Brake levers
Pedals with new white leather Campy straps
Cranks - 2nd generation
Seatpost - 27.2

All is unused and NOS. I believe the owner has boxes for all of this. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what would be a good offer for the 2 sets.

Hello I would be very interested in hearing and seeing more about these parts. if they unused they could be a bit pricy but if the seller was given these things perhaps he should pass on a bit of goodwill eh?

I'd offer him $500-$600 a set, not being able to see them.

With time and patience, you could sell them for $1000 a set, but you'd need time and patience, since a new Centaur set would be cheaper. The buyer would really have to want those specific parts.

well a new Centar group would be cheaper and have brifters so it might be a better value. however the value (IMHO) of these items is their beautiful design. I am not sure what the OP means by 1st and 2nd gen but a C-Rec rear derailuer will not be indexing.

First generation rear derailleurs have the enclosed lower pulley.

There are folks out there who have already got a pretty good investment in restoring a beautiful, pristine Italian bike, and would invest in an NOS set of C-Record at a premium price. Those bikes are definitely out there and being re-done.

A person that holds such a set, or two, would simply have to understand it's probably not a quick "flip," but a process wherein the correct buyer finds them at the correct time and is willing to invest in the C-Record group.

I'm convinced those buyers exist, because the bikes do, and someone would eventually buy each group. They're just not lined up around the corner somewhere waiting with baited breath for the group to appear.
