+1 on the chocolate milk. But I think that and the beer might make me barf.

After a 30 miler I Pop into the pub and hava a coupe of pints. If you netflix the 25th hour you can see the pub. I just found another place that has carlsberg on draught. Beer after a long ride is the best. It's like getting a two for one.

I usually have a Fat Tire or 1554 in the beer fridge in the garage. Very rarely do I have a beer after riding.

Funny you should mention that. I rode for a few hours today and when I got home I said to the wife: "Wife, let's go out. I really want a beer." So we did and I got a Leinenkugel's (sp) summer blend or something like that....unbelievably delicious.

No booze for me. Post ride, I usually go for another Pepsi and some pizza.
Sunday when I finish the 400k, it will be just about time for Family Pancake House to open, and I'm heading there for some coffee and a wheelbarrow full of pancakes.

From which scene? I really love that movie. Brian Cox's line at the end when they have a shot of Jack almost kills me every time.

Anyway, I thought about that today. I usually drink a lot of water when I get home...and maybe have some snacks. I don't start with the beer (or wine or whiskey) until after I've showered and had a chance to get back to normal. Just my opinion!

If it is a *really* stinking hot day, a nice cold Guinness can be a pleasant recovery drink after the shower.

No beer. I stopped drinking pretty much any thing other than water. I hate drinking my calories.

Beer... yes. I have on several occasions. After a ride, you feel as though you need to relax. Beer is a great solution.

Yes, I know that it is not very good for a possibly dehydrated person, but in my defense, after a good ride, I almost always have a 1 to 1 ratio of beer to water.

Water and caffeine free diet Mountain Dew. I usually drink beer late in the PM when I do.

I can't think of a single time I have ever had a beer post ride. Normally I just like to relax with ice water and lemon.

You would not believe how awesome munching a fresh lemon after a long hot ride is!

Beer? Hell no! Some water, a glass of gatorade, then some more water, then clean up and get to homework of fix dinner.

Occasionally I'll have a cold frothy malt libation, but most of the time I end up drinking water or G2(low calorie Gatorade)after riding(umm, maybe because a lot of my riding is done commuting to work). The brews do seem especially tasty after a ride however!

Beer, while enjoyable, is not a healthy beverage.

I used to look at food and beverages as a source of satisfaction. Now I just think of what I consume as fuel and hydration.

As much as I like to down a brewski now and again, I like your thought process. That is the only way I can lose weight. For now it is mostly water and a swig or two of G2 gatorade.

I had to give it up when I was 21 due to drinking to much beer and not enough riding. I drink water or a sports drink. that was 26 years ago. ECB1

I gave up "adult" beverages a couple of years ago. Inexplicably, a brain tumor completely removed my taste or desire for my beloved beer, wine, and frozen margaritas. I asked the neurosurgeon if he could also "fix" that during the craniotomy ... but it's all for the best given the calories, the post-intake downtime, and the side effects alcohol has with some meds I have to take now. There's been beer and wine sitting in my fridge since then; I have no desire for either and probably they aren't drinkable by now to serve to guests.

After a bike ride my beverage of choice once I get home is diet coke; I also drink water, a little G2, and coffee/latte/iced versions of both. Wal*Mart has some "Sam's choice" flavored carbonated water drinks in key lime & mandarin orange that I also like. Kind of tangy, not too sweet.

After my rides the drink of choice ios recovorite with fruit blended into a smoothie and a can of coke. Everything is then good in the world. This is my combo after hard effort rides. Normal rides it's just recovorite.

I think that I have had one drink that has had any sort of alcohol in the last 10 years or so. What is strange, a few weeks ago after pounding out a 70 training ride, I had the urge for one while out to dinner with Mrs. Hill-Pumper. I didn't have one, but I had the first urge to have one in years.

Oddly enough I am paying to go on a 100 mile ride Saturday just so I can have free beer and BBQ at the 98 mile rest stop. Maybe I should ride the route backwards.

The scene where he goes to see Brian Cox at the bar. It's called Kitty Kiernans. It's between 97th and 98th Street on 3rd ave In Brooklyn. A 1/4 mile off the bike path that runs under the Verrenzano bridge

A lot of peeps drink G2. I've switched to powerade zero. 0 Calories and just as tasteless as G2.

Mmmm... beer.. Pacifico, Fat Tire, Speckled Cow, Aventinus, Three Floyds... oh yeah baby...
but not after a ride. After a ride it's banana/strawberry/carrot/yoghurt/tomato/honey shake with a scoop of protein powder for recovery. Yum yum.

On my first group ride with a new group of people near my home, we rode 26 miles and then after finishing everyone said to come back to a local pub for a couple drinks with them. We were still in our bike shorts and just cooling down when two of the guys with us ordered tequila shots!! I cracked up laughing. They said that they don't normally do this but just had a wild hair I guess. The rest of us were more laid back with ice water and a cold Corona!

right after the ride I drink water and stretch out, or I pay for it later. once I've cooled down, I often like to sip a bevvie... name the beer and I've had it after a ride, probably a few most of you have never heard of either (creemore springs, brick brewing, and the oh so hoppy sargent major)

Somewhere around mile 180 the pancakes started sounding like a bad idea. Then around 230 they sounded good again. Then we finished 250 and Mark had coffee at his house; that's as far as I got. Coffee and toast.

Beer AND whiskey, please! I started biking to jusify my drinking, then discovered that nothing beats a beer or three after a 45 mile ride, so now I bike to enhance my drinking. When I started biking, I had a beer or two before or even during a ride, but after I started going more than 10 miles, I realized that just didn't work. And then the post-ride beer isn't so special anymore . . .

Tomato in that? ...interesting. Perhaps I'll try that.

Never been a beer drinker... but my next bike project will involve painting the frame "Guiness Brown":thumb:

Iced coffee is my drink of choice.

My commute home is late at night ~ no coffee then... just agua frio ...and more and more... and finally a glass of milk before nitey-nite.

Oh, back in my bad days I'd get off work at the restaurant after putting back 2 or 3 and ride the 5 miles home and have a few more. These days I've cut far back, but a beer while I tinker and a beer or two after a long road or mountain ride are always enjoyable. I must say, though, enjoying a beer with friends is always preferable to having one alone.
