I'm thinking of making a long drive (350 miles RT) to check out this bike. It was $200 yesterday on CL and $300 today. It's on ebay also.

He says it just needs tires (sew ups).
Any thoughts? Is it worth $300?
Need response ASAP as I'm thinking of heading down there this afternoon.

The lack of pictures is a little intimidating, but from what you can see it looks like its in good shape.
I think it is easily worth $200. $300 doesn't seem too ridiculous. Remember, this was the "Japanese Paramount".
If you buy it, can I ride it if I ever come to Vermont? :)

I should've jumped yesterday before he decided that it "was maybe a little undervalued". $300 is such a stretch for me right now. Plus round trip gas.
It looks like it will fit me real good :( which is making this much harder. And I love the color.
I'll keep you posted.
Anybody else??

I think you answered your own question. A good deal for me may just be a bad deal for you. If it is outside your budget, then I would pass.
The key phrase is "$300 is such a stretch for me right now." Nuff said!
I would never consider stretching my budget for a bicycle. No way.

Hmmm, CL ad is gone, and ebay listing ended. Someone bought it.
If you have buyer's remorse, let me know. I might be interested. In my opinion, that is the single best frame color EVAH!

No, that is the Volare.
The Superiors were Schwinn's method of cleaning house of the excess Nervex lugs left over from the Paramount production in 1979. All of them were brazed by Don Mainland.

I bought it. I dig it. Will get some pics in the daylight.
It has a four digit number on the headbadge ending in '2'. Should I assume it's a 1982?

Thanks... that's the one alright. The Brooks has disappeared. :(

I'll be heading out to do that shortly. It could take awhile to upload them though as I'm using dialup and the images will be relatively high-rez.
