Hi again

I really need help finding suitable panniers for grocery shopping. I am looking for something with a shoulder strap and has a drawstring closure or closes somehow on the top so nothing flies out when I'm moving on the bike.

I've looked at the Trek ones and I will get those if I cant find anything else. The Bontrager ones were nice and have nice handles but as they only hook on and there isn't anything securing them at the bottom I'm not sure how stable they will be.

So please hit me with your best idea before i break down and just order the wald folding baskets..lol:D

TIA

P.S. Just looked at the Jandd ones again and I can get an option cover with them..Does anyone have the jandd that cares to voice a review to me:)??

Why not just get that set of LG from Nashbar? They are large, waterproof and have a shoulder strap. Keep searching for a good deal on them. I bought mine for $40 or $50 some time ago. The front bags are the same only smaller but cost a bit more. You will not go wrong owning the two sets.

Kind of expensive, but looks like it will take quite a load and you can use a sholder strap to carry it in the store, or just let it ride in a shopping cart.http://www.arkel-od.com/panniers/accessories/strap.asp?fl=1&site= And a Canadian company to boot.

I think I'm deciding now between those and the Banjo Brothers Market Pannier...if I can find a company that will ship to Canada for the latter that is

I have a set of the Ortlieb Shopper bags.
They have held up very well, and will even hang on the top edge of the shopping cart.
They are pricey but I'm happy with my purchase.

I am really happy with my MEC panniers... no shoulder strap but 5 years of serious use and abuse they are still as good as new.

I was going to go with the MEC ones but then I decided that shoulder straps or totes handles were essential for me:)

They be my fallback though if I cant get the market panniers from Banjo Brothers

It is strange that they are no longer being sold because the small ones were back and forth on the site some time ago. She front bags are the same and have the shoulder staps.http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1058404?PID=484346&cm_ite=NEW+-+PerformanceBike.com+&cm_pla=484346&cm_cat=1069410&cm_ven=CJ

I have the rear-pannier versions of those and I like them. They were on sale about a year ago and I got the pair for ~$60.00. They work well. Keep in mind that because of the odd shape this type of panniers have. they are not so good for some types of shopping, laptops etc.

Thanks everyone!! I decided on the Banjo Brothers Market Panniers if my LBS can order them in. Will confirm tomorrow. If not then most like I'll go with the Ortlieb ones

have you looked into Klickfix products
see http://www.klickfix.de/indexe.html

German company that does a range of stuff that fixes to front or rear of bike
I've got a couple of their bags and are well made
You do need the correct Klickfix fitting to go with them though

I'll take a look..I wouldn't need to use one of their rear racks would I? Luckily also my LBS is able to order the BB's panniers for me too:)

I like the REI Novara shopping panniers. They have carrying handles. I use them with a pair of cloth reusable shopping bags as sold by my usual food shopping store. They just drop into the panniers. The REI panniers are very secure on my Topeak rack once the lower mounts are properly adjusted and yet can be removed and attached quickly.

I just tie the inner shopping bags carrying handles together once full to make sure nothing falls out

Klickfix makes 'adaptors' that fit on handlebars (thick and thin), with/without an additional 'extender'
the extender is used to either make handlebar bag clear the brake cables etc or needed when using
a 'multi-grip' handlebar.
I think they also make one that fixes to the stearing post

The rear one I have fixes to the seat post - but I've stopped using it because the fixing nut
does not seem that secure to me.

These adaptors can or must be bought separately, though some bags come with the
basic handlebar adaptor. Best to look into which one you need and wether it come with the bag
when/if you order one.

My most recent one, a small handlebar bag, I got from amazon.de because it was not available
from any shop on/off line here in the UK> best of luck.
