Funny how everyone is still going on about LA/AC when there's a pretty interesting race going on. In any case, Cav won the stage.

looking forward to the last stage!

Watched stage 1 on VS and missed stage 2. Won't get to see stage 3 thanks to work but I'm definitely interested in the race.

seen cavendish sprint to the finish last night, the man is something else, as for the coverage, even in ireland the coverage is about 45min to an hour highlights each day, whilst one of our stations showed about 4 to 5 hrs a day of TDF

No other US TV coverage? I checked the Universal listings and half of it is "To Be Announced" so can't tell.

Loved the story of the Rwanda rider starting in his first race - He lost 6 brothers in the genocide and Boyer gave him a shot - Great story - Today's race was a deluge - half the field dropped out - i won't spoil the final classification for those who haven't seen it -

Did you guys watch the TOI yesterday? Lance showed a lot of class when talking about AC.

Damn impressive finish for the yellow jersey today! I have to admit, after all the overblown, over-tabloided coverage of the Tour de France, the Tour of Ireland was an enjoyable three days.

I really wish some channel would cover a lot of the races of this caliber. Yeah, the audience wouldn't be large (I know, ratings, ratings, ratings) but I figure there's a least a few others on this board who'd appreciate the chance to watch.

You know, cable/satellite television living up to the original promise? Narrowcasting to passionate fans of lesser known sports (and not just sports, of course).

I look at the Versus schedule Friday to see if the Tour of Ireland was being shown and saw nothing.
When was stage 1 broadcast?
Was stage 2 broadcast?
I stumbled into the stage 3 broadcast when I erred on the start time of the Indy car race.

Stage 1 was at 6pm Eastern. I think Stage 2 was the same time.

i think (sadly) that alot quit because they seem 'above' this race...i don't know. unless there is a medical reason, if i entered that means you mean to finish. a little disappointed lance dropped out. i guess they are protecting the merchandise/themselves...even cav dropped out....

i just discovered the Universal channel and see there is an Espagne race scheduled to begin August 29...

Stage 2 was Saturday. I think it started at 2pm west coast time. I missed it, had to work. I don't know about the first stage.

There are a lot of races coming up. You can't take unecessary risks just to finish one.

My understanding is that Lance was having a lot of back pain, and that was why he dropped out.

He's already said that the Tour of Ireland was his last race of the season.

I don't think it is because the race is above them - many of these riders hold the race (and the country) in high regard. Besides, if they treated it lightly Sean Kelly would kick their arse (he wasn't commentating on British Eurosport because he was the DS for one of the teams).

My guess is 1) it was heinously wet and dangerous out there and on a circuit course like that one most did feel it was safer for those who had a chance if those who didn't left and 2) the 'exit' was easy! Go straight instead of a run up St Patrick's ... anyone would take that option!

Seriously - last day of a stage, three loop circuit - if you don't have a shot you should drop off (and you should be WASTED having given it your all for a team mate before that).

Lots of guys don't finish the Worlds for similar reasons. I guess it is different in Europe than with crits in the US?

They changed it to 2 loops due the rain.
Anyone know how long St. Patricks is? Came accross on TV as steep but short.
