Training & Nutrition - single speed distance

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I recently picked up a single speed, because I loved riding in college. A nice bi-product is that it helps me get back into (some sort of) shape. What kind of distances should I shoot for on a single speed in fairly hilly suburb? Today I did around 10 miles but I don't' think I could do that every day.
Anyone have a training regiment that could help me progress over time? What sort of distances do poeple do on single speed bikes?

60-100 miles on a single speed is no problem. Just ride a little more each day. Unless you are doing a ton of climbing, and I mean climbing, not little ups and downs, gears really aren't necessary.
People can ride 1200K randonnees on fixed gears and single speeds. Keep riding ... you're a long way from the limit.

I too just picked up a SS and have focused more on staying on the bike for a fixed time first and mileage second. Since its been a few years since I have been really active (tore my achellies tendon so bad they had to rebuilt it; 8wks in a cast and 8wks in a boot before I started Physical theraphy and walking) I have started with 30mins 3x's a week with a 45-60min ride on the weekend. Each week it gets easier and easier and the mileage gets longer and longer.
