I'm looking for a climber's dream bike, dualie, budget is around $1000-3000.
Let's hear your vote!

EDIT: So let's say you can only dream up to $3000 :), what would be your climbing dream bike?

That budget is a little constrictive for a "dream" bike. Ibis Mojo SL are good climbers but it's $2400 for the frame so thats my pick. In my dream all the XTR parts are free along with the fork and wheels and... Hey it's my dream so Meghan Fox is my riding partner too.

If that's your budget, start checking out your local Craigslist for a Specialized Epic. I've seen two and three year old S-Works Epics going for a couple grand. You can climb like a scared cat on one of those.

A climbers mountain bike needs to be light.

Trek Elite 9.9SSL would be my pick. I'd put the Bontrager Race XXX Lite carbon wheels on it, bringing the weight to around 17lbs.

If you must have full suspension, the Top Fuel 9.9SSL is the answer, though its about 5 lbs heavier.

My vote is save some more money. You can't sniff a dualie dream bike for 3k.

If you can find something similar to this for 3k, it should be a worthy climber. Good enough to beat the last year's leadville's record any way, although some might attribute that to the engine.

My deam bike for climbing would be a nice 8" travel bike I could load on the chairlift......climbs like a dream.

Yep, XX looks like pretty awesome stuff. I wonder if it's still made in China, like all the other SRAM stuff.

The seat tube on that Trek looks WAY to weird for my liking.

For 3K you could go full custom handbuilt and never buy another production bike again. Check out Curtlo. I built an Epic Mountaineer with full XTR for around 2500 bucks. I'll never ride production frames again. Everything fits so well and the bike is soooo comfy I could ride all day.

Best answer yet..."the official" uber-gnar bike would be an 8" travel dually (bigger than "my baby") and would be much less of a ghey steed to add to your stable. She's a harder bike to cheeto and you'd need to get out the whip to giddiup to speed for crazy jumps and gnar drops. If you get ultralight manpanties to ride it in, you won't notice the added weight...just don't forget the ass butter to avoid the chaff...and don't fall on your penis. That would be sick. That said...if you're a hack like Siu...you'd probably need to run a 9" bike like mine:

It would be a dualie.my Fisher Cake climbs like a cat on velcro.The best climbing mtb I've ridden-gets my vote.

I would say a 2006-2008 Santa Cruz Blur XC, in aluminum. eBay sometimes has used frames for well under $600. A friend built himself a 23-pound magic carpet (in large!) that climbs like a crack-addicted billy goat, using:

-SRAM X9 drivetrain
-XTR Front Derailleur
-Thomson Masterpiece seatpost
-Ritchey Carbon bars
-XT Hollowtech II crankset
-Magura Marta hydro brakes
-Specialized Roval wheelset
-Specialized Phenom SL saddle
