Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - CLYDEWEAR - where oh where?

Stopped into the LBS yesterday to drool over the FS mountain bikes and shop around. Some nice jackets. All in the classic ferret sizes - S - XL. The XL must have been for a Ferret-Clyde. No way I am getting into an XL. XXL, we can talk.

Somewhere out there is an outfit or three that cater to Clydes. A place where jackets start at L and go up. Cabelas does that for a lot of things - but not bikes. Some of their sizes go to 5X. Never had a bad outcome from Cabelas. Get all my GoreTex from them.


Where are the ClydeWear emporiums?

Someone should put it all together on line. ClydeWear and ClydeBikes with ClydeProof components.' I can see an UberClyde Inspector 12 in the ads: "It doesn't say Clyde until I take it for a ride!" YouTube videos of him doing just that. Reviews, like the handy mtbr.com.

I got my cycling shorts here, and plan on getting jerseys very soon. If they can fit me, they can fit just about anyone!

What about Love2Pedal? They have a good range of sizes.

Do not plan on the aerotechdesigns being of great quality at the lower prices. I bought some when I first started biking, and they are not good quality and the chamois was of poor design and quality. I never tried their higher quality (cost) shorts, I decided to try others and really like Pearl Izumi bike shorts. YMMV

I have 3 of them turtlewoman and love them. They are 3XL. I make a practice to always ask them if they don't provide it the measurement from armpit to armpit across the chest since sizes vary so much.

Don't they just? Jersey to 5X. Looks like they carry ClydeWear. Got to see about a 2x vest and jacket.

I scored some stuff from the North Face outlet at Woodburn, OR, but you can't count on that all the time. Wicking golf shirts from Ross at 9.00 see to work well.

For jersey's I like Mt. Borah. Their sizing is reasonable for a Clyde (not skin tight). XL fits me nicely (5'10, 225 lbs).

As a rule, I find that mountain bike jerseys are cut more generously. LL Bean and Nashbar have comfortable jerseys that are good for road biking as well.

For shorts, I like Pearl Izumi. I'm between XL and L so I go with the large. I've tried Gore and Aerotech. Both are decent.

I agreed Mt. Borah has a good selection of Men's and Women's Plus size jerseys and shorts. For women, Terry Bicycles and Teamestrogen.com also has a good selection.

Many of my Clyde brethen are now buying sport shirts from Target and other sources. Champion makes some good designs that are inexpensive and wicks sweat beautifully. I have a couple of North Face shirts I wear for mountain biking and love them!

Nowadays you don't have to be in fancy cycling jersey to ride. I have lots of jerseys I spend $60 - $100 dollars for but I love my $20 sports shirts just as much! If I get bike chain grease on one, no problem.

If you're good with a 2XL, then check out Pearl Izumi's line of stuff. I'm 6'6", 235-ish and wear PI bibs.
Performance 2XL should also fit you. I have a few pairs of Performance shorts, some wicking shirts, etc.
Primal, Voler and Garneau jerseys go up to 3XL in club fit, which is more than enough for me.
Even Woolistic's jerseys fit if I manage to wrangle up a 3XL.

On occasion I can find shoes to fit (15), but often I can find their wicking golf shirts in 2x. Have one each in red, yellow and orange - all for about $9. Have yet to break out a jersey this summer. When you have a certain amount of "form", form-fitting is not a good idea. Loose fit, better air circulation.

They had tall sizes referenced in one jersey's description but not listed as a size to buy. I asked and was told they'd discontinued the tall stuff and they directed me to Aerotech. Maybe big sizes would be different.
