I have heard that the Jones Oklahoma police force is cracking down on cyclists - giving $100.00 traffic tickets for failing to stop at stop signs, etc. Has anyone had personal experience of this?
I heard from a non-cycling resident that discouraging cyclists from coming through town was a topic slated for the most recent town hall meeting. Maybe just a heads up if your usual traiing route runs though Jones.

No, but this seems similar to what happened in Madison, Wisconsin in the 1970s. The city is the home of U of WI and has more bicycles than motor vehicles. The cops were ticketing anyone who did not stop at stop signs because of the number of car-bike accidents in the town. Doesn't take too many $100 tickets and points against your license to get the message across - don't run stop signs. It is only unfair if the don't stop drivers doing the same thing. Then it is probably the subject for a lawsuit against the city.
