Hello, I'm interested in getting Garmin Edge 705. I really like my turn by turn navigation for my garmin navigator for my car. Is the Edge 705 navigation as good as the car's navigation? I want to be able to use it where I ride somewhere random for awhile, and when I want to come home, I want to just press go home and have the Edge 705 take me home. I would love to hear inputs from Edge 705 owners. Thanks in advance!!!

The 705 uses the same City Navigator software as Garmin's in-car and handheld units. I've used all three types over the years with many different versions of City Select/City Nav, and as far as I can tell, the Edge 705 performs nearly identically. You can tell it your vehicle type (car, bike, RV, etc.), and it will avoid routing you onto unsuitable roads, such as major roadways in the case of the bicycle option. It also has the "Go Home" routing option that you mentioned, though its buried several menu levels deep.

I'd note that one thing it *doesn't* take into account is topography. One road it tends to favor in a local town is the aptly named "Seven Hills Rd." (and there's a stop sign at the bottom of each).

The Edge 305 has a "return to start" feature that works great.
