What were your favorite subjects in school back in grade/middle/junior high/high school? (e.g. pre-high school graduation)

I know the typical "sex ed" and "anatomy" answers are coming from the weisenheimers.

For me it was always math. I loved Algebra courses.

Science and English. I despised math with a passion because I just couldn't "get it". I was indifferent toward History. I actually made good grades in Science and English classes, though, and I enjoyed them. Especially Science.

Not really my favorite, but the only thing useful I learned in HS was how to type. It was taught by my football coach and he'd stand up in front with a microphone and a metronome and yell out "F R J U! F R J U! A Q semicolon P! A Q semicolon P!" We used manual typewriters and you really had to slam those keys to make it work. Good times.

Bio, English, Music, and Robotics. Yess, we had a robotics class at our high school! Woot!!! It involved playing with lego mindstorm stuff, mostly, but we did build cool stuff.

Construction, wood shop, and drafting. Had I known more about the economy then, I'd probably have studied cars instead of building trades. But it was great experience.

I took drafting in my senior year in high school....wish I would have taken that earlier and went further with it....that was a cool class.

No....nearly all high schools have trade classes like wood shop, auto mechanics, etc...

wood working, visual arts.

I liked history, but only the war sections, the rest of it wasn't as interesting.

I liked all my H.S. classes up until the Sr. level Physics, Trig, and Advanced Algebra and Analytic Geometry. French was "meh". My very favorites were Freshman Physics, Geometry and Drafting (all 3.5 years of it).

Computer science. It was in the early 90s and I think one course was basic and the other C (I think).
The other one that came in a close second was Russian. My teacher was wonderful.

Chemistry

The amount of stuff we blew up/broke with or without the teachers guidance was awsome. When the teacher did hydrogen rockets was a definite highlight. We did it insides and went through 2 light cases + bulbs, 1 case, a chair, rather a large amount of stationary and a window.

Contact explosive was another high, although we weren't meant to be doing that. Half way through the experiment though we were sitting there and thought "hang on... I know what we can make with this".

By far, the SOAR program. For half a day once a week, they trow all the gifted kids in a room with all sorts of geeky stuff. Sometimes, it's actual projects, sometimes, it's whatever you want to do.

Did you sneak in through the window or the back door? Didn't the smart kids rat you out?

Elementary school: Perhaps reading, then math.
Middle school: Band.
High school: toss-up between organic chem, or environmental science.

Reading, English and Literature.

I was reading at college level in the third grade, forcing them to put me into the Mentally Gifted Minor program...which I hated. Bunch of dorks in that class, and I got made fun of by the other kids when I got back. In High School I was in all the AP English classes and graduated with more credits than I needed because I took Science Fiction, Mythology, Creative Writing and Literature classes as my electives rather than wasting time in shop and pott(head)ery classes.

Now I'm a carpenter. :(

I hated school until I got to college. I'd say if I had to pick a favorite, it'd be english... but only because I wrote so much in my free time. I did kind of enjoy physics in the last couple of years of high school, though.

Now, I love it all. :D Well, except speech.

My favorite was "Television Production". The killer part of that was that it was an English credit. My final project was a Ted Nugent music video (this was years before MTV).

Second was Drafting.

I did well at all the subjects at one point or another, but then had a habit of becoming disinterested once it became boring or the teacher sucked. Math and English in 3rd grade, geography in 6th grade, history and shop in 8th grade, algebra and biology in 9th grade, mechanical drawing in 12th grade. Hated 10th grade geometry and French.

I seriously wish they had a course on girls, because back then I'd have excelled given my high level of interest.:thumb:

Drama..my only grade 12 credit. Teacher loved me, I wasn't one of those quiet kids you can't hear. My voice carried. That class was mostly a haven from the beatings/bullying I received in other classes.
