I’m moving my Shimano M324 pedals to another bike so am now looking for a set of pedals for my 7.5 FX. I want something “road-like” (vs. mountain), although practical considerations are that I want to use a SPD cleat since I’m not planning to buy lots of new shoes. I also do like the option to have one side be a platform, although again in practical terms I've never used this bike without cleats.

I’ve looked at the Shimano A520 and A530 on line and they look pretty nice.

(a) Does anyone have other recommendations? Other brands’ road pedals that will take a SPD cleat?
(b) Does anyone know the difference between the A520 and A530? They look pretty similar and a search of the forums here doesn't yield too much...

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Both the A520 and A530 are single sided pedals, SPD on one side and "platform" on the other. The A520 has a "hump" on the middle platform (non-cleat) side while the slightly larger A530 is flat and grips regular shoes much better.

I see no advantage to the A520 over the A530 pedals, except a slightly lower price.

I outfitted my former-7.5 with MKS GR-9 pedals. With toe-clips & straps. Easy-in and easy-out while traversing dirt and gravel. And they are very comfortable to ride with my usual bike shoes: A beat-up old pair of sneakers.
