On the way home from Mammoth last weekend, we stopped for lunch in Lone Pine and I saw some switchbacks taunting me. Maybe it was withdrawals from not having my bike for a week, maybe it's because I didn't get close enough to see the road surface, but it looks like a fun and scenic climb. Has anybody ridden this road?

Yes, I did it a few years ago, and it's as good as it looks from the valley floor. I've also done the climb to Whitney Portal and the one up Onion Valley Rd in the same vicinity. Great climbs. Here's a link to good article about those three and other southern Sierra Nevada climbs.

Thanks Glenn! I'm gonna have to try it some time.

Oh yeah, and the link's not working for some reason.

Hmmm, link is working for me. Try again and let me know if it doesn't work for you again. If not I'll see if it's OK with the author if I cut and paste it here. It's a great article.
