Like I said above, knowing bike shop owners is a very good thing! My dad helped out the owner of a bike shop here in az for many years without getting a paycheck (he would sit around and BS with him, fix bikes, etc) so now we get everything at dealer cost.
A few days ago I was up in hood river, oregon with my mom and dad visiting our friends when they started talking about mt. biking and asked me if I was into it. I've rode a Redline John Purse Signature since 5th grade (Im in 10th right now) so I told I just dirt jump a bmx bike.
Well one thing led to another and today my dad and I went to the bike shop and he stocks raleighs (yeah I know raleigh isnt too great but Im a beginner), so we are buying a raleigh Ram 2.0 for like $310 at dealer cost :) My dad is also going to buy a RockShox fork for his haro so we are going to mt. bike right by my house.
My dad was soooo close to buying a Raleigh Ram XT2500 but decided since this is my first mountain bike, I am going to crash/beat it up. So, the cheapy ram 2.0 will work for now and then if I get better then I can always upgrade.
So, once again, I am interested in an expensive hobby :D
Glad to be a part of the forum and I will soon find out how a $600 dual-suspension raleigh holds up lol. "Luckily" I have the skinny genes from my dads side of the family and I weigh like 125lbs, so Im not to worried about anything snapping at the weld ;)
