Based on Vintage-Trek, the bike is a '92.
I cant really tell from the pics but what group comes on this model/year ? Assuming of course nothing has been changed.

Just sold a Trek to a guy who said he limits himself to 3 bikes. That kind of thing always amazes me, and you'd see why if you visited my garage. But he said he lived in an apartment so I cut him some slack.
My rule is simple, if I find one to add to the keeper fleet, then it has to replace one already in the fleet. One comes in, one goes out. So it is OK/great to upgrade, but it is not OK to expand it. This has worked, so far....

For me, it started out simple. I started cleaning up/restoring my pops old Peugeot Monaco which got me into this and led me to get an old roadie myself. I picked up the Univega SS as a "commuter" to ride into Midtown. When it arrived I though "holy cow this thing is in way too nice of a condition to lock up in Manhattan". So then I stumbled across an old Peugeot. While at the person's house looking at the Peug, he pulls out another bike he was not selling but offered it to me, an old Miyata 310 that had all Shimano "Golden Arrow" components. Took them both.
So i'm in the process of cleaning up the Peug to sell because its too big for me(dragging my feet on that), I have the Miyata stripped down because it's going to be my Commuter being that the frame looks rough and has definitely seen its days of use. Along the way came an 84 Trek 400 w/ all Campy group in great condition, I also picked up an old Panasonic DX500 for my wife which she doesnt like, I don't remember bidding on this Trek 400 that I won (but i'll take it!), and I'm also working out that deal on the 610.

This guy has a space problem. He is almost giving this away (considering that some list the
cranks on ebay for $150). It is my size. I have a replacement fork. So far I haven't emailed him. I live in a 500 sq foot condo.
I share the basement with 3 other owners. Why they haven't kicked my bikes out I don't know.

I'd be surprised if anybody ever gets anywhere near that for them. People can list things for whatever price they want, but often it's not a good indicator of value. (And I think those cranks take an oddball non-taper BB.) I'd say $150 is more of a complete bike price (if that), what with the death fork and all.

Well I am with you on that. It isn't just an over full basement that keeps me from emailing. Just that I have a buddy
who has a Lambert and it would be cool to show up with one to match his.

My wife has given up trying to figure out how a "free" bike that I find in a trash pile always ends up costing me money. She doesn't understand that bikes need love too.
I have 5 bikes... and I have no illusions. I know that I will never be able to stop myself.

Hey! I've been working the overnight shift this week. Guess i've been dozing off and hitting the "Place Bid" button while in that state of R.E.M sleep! :D
I've the same problem. I no longer have the number of bikes I have at the top of my head. I'm trying to sell off the non-keepers but I'll have to fix them first (at least some of them) and that takes longer than Ebay bidding...

I lose track in the middle of counting my bikes. It's somewhere around 25. The junky ones are in the garage, which isn't lockable, and the rest are in the basement, where the shop is.

Oh, Don't even get me started!
Living in NYC, garage space is limited. Mine is the size of a mid sized car, but is full of toys. I have my motorcycle in there, car parts, 7 bicycles, tool box, etc...
So if I had a bigger sized garage or another storage space for more bikes, I'd probably be in deep s**t right now. lol. :D

I think I had five bikes at one point when I lived in a tiny studio apartment, but I think I kept one or two at the bike shop I worked at.
No, you can't stop!
Here's another one for your consideration. :D

Think my wife will believe I'm getting a 20 year old Motobecane for my nephew? I left a voice mail that I need our Outback tomorrow (for the bicycle carrier). A 20 year old Ladies Motobecane from what I could gather over the telephone. Has 27-in tires, and I know nothing else (other than I'm getting it for $50). I love vintage bikes a bit too much, and at 32 years of age I have too many (hate to see what another 30 years will do to my hobby).

I'm 27 myself. Have a 5 month old daughter and 2 other hobbies that I love dearly and are MORE expensive than vintage bicycles.
Aside from liking vintage bikes, i'm trying my hardest to focus on this hobby more than the other 2 for financial reasons. BUT....with my track record these past 2 weeks its turning out to be just as bad as the other ones! LOL.
Only valid argument I have... "Its exercise also, so its not like its bad for you...completely"

That all sounds very disciplined and reasonable, but how big is the keeper fleet?

I wish I could have more bikes. I have two full bikes, and 4 projects going on. My Panasonic hangs on my wall, and sadly hasn't been ridden much lately..., I have an old Schwinn (project) hanging near it. Then out in the shop I have my Raleigh (project), a Motobecane Nomade (project) and a Fuji MTB (project for the GF). And I still want more...
-Gene-
NYC what's sad is I've already got it narrowed down somewhat (year and make) based on what he's told me. He said it was a 10 speed, which limits it to before 1979, a ladies frame, with quick release tires (Nomade Sprint were not quick release).
Currently I'm guessing it's older than his 20 year old guess, either a 1976'ish Super Mirage or Grand Touring Motorbecane, and probably a 23-in frame. He said ~29 to 29-1/2 from ground to seat post bracket with 27-in tires.
Figure 1/4 of 27 + 23 = 29.75-in.
Both these styles are considered Mixte frames, so a motobecane mixte is worth procuring yes???

I know my situation is way out of hand, but I'm working on it. I sold off and donated about 8 bikes. Problem is, I found about 4 more so I'm down a net of about 4 bikes.
I don't have the time to work on them because I'm either riding or repairing the bikes I ride in all my spare time. I have two more sold and one more for donation so I'll focus on those and move them out.
Then I"ll be down to somewhere over 50. Like the name says (Bike Junkie).

If I gave my wife flowers, she'd think I did something (mainly because I always behave and I never give her flowers). So I give her a bike, and she tolerates it, doesn't say much, and rides a bit. Then I upgrade that bike, and we ride some more. Next step, mixte. Next step, road bike.
See, it's easy, and I'm saving the environment by not buying flowers.
