Any socks that are better/worse than the others? I'm looking for recommendations.

I have a pair of black defeet socks that I swear by. No idea what "model" they are, they're super thin, all black and have a mesh top. Only sock i've ever worn that didn't get my feat sweaty.

Smartwool, all the way. I bought 12 pairs to wear day in and day out, they're almost a decade old and people still think they're only a couple weeks old.

I second the recommendation for Smartwool. They're $pendy, but worth it.

I starting wearing Performance Coolmax Elite socks for cycling but they're so comfortable I wear them anytime I would normally wear white socks...

I was going through cheaper socks like nothing. So you factor in a decade of wear, they're probably good for another decade.
So 20 years, 12 pairs @ $15/pair = $180.
The cheaper socks were 3 pair for $10 and lasted me 2 years at best. So $40*2*10=$800.
As with all things, it's like buying a quality tire, frame, gloves, clothes, etc. You get what you pay for.

I wear some cheap $6 Supergo brand socks, I don't really see how $15 socks could make all that much of a difference personally, well that, and they're the only ones I could find that came in an XL, I really didn't feel like going through the trouble of driving around all day for a few pairs of socks.

Oh, slvoid, I'm not a nazi! I just like to ride nekkid.

No socks, no underwear, no shorts, no jersey. Just a helmet, and a pair of SPD compatible shoes. :D

I always use a saddle bag, because I have no pockets!.

I have a bunch of DeFeet that I wear with regular running shoes
coz I like the graphics.
I prefer Smartwool when I'm riding.
I also have a few pair of Woolistic socks, they're thinner than the
smartwool, a bit stretchier too. I really like them also.
They too can be $pendy

Hi,
Smartwool makes the best cycling socks. Period. I need a very thin sock, so I use the RBX ultralights. But the RBX is sooo comfy.

Smartwool are great for comfort.

If you like something flashier, the socks from Lin are excellent.

DeFeet and Pearl Izumi are close seconds to the Lin socks.

I have to ride fassionably, so I wear bright orange, purple, green, red, or yellow cotton socks. My feet are sweaty, but thats ok. I shower after my rides.

Almost a decade old?? Do you handwash them? Or machine wash regular? delicate? dryer?

I don't imagine biking wears down socks much mind you.. do you do much running sports?

If they do last that long, definitely worth the price.

one word ebay. you can get lots of good deal on coolmax based socks as long as your not picky about the design.

Well they're hiking socks. I wore em in my shoes and boots for almost a decade day in and day out, same sets of socks. I do laundry once every one or two weeks. Just throw em in there along with the rest of my clothes, machine wash warm, tumble dry warm. Just a lot of walking and working. For cycling or running, I have thinner smartwools that I recently bought along with some cotton socks with bright lime green reflective trim.
