Foo - Nice Folks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have only been lurking around this road bike forum for a few days now, but I am totally impressed by the way people comport themselves around here. As photography is my main passion, I spend quite a bit of time on those forums. As a group, a lot of the regulars on those forums are mean spirited, argumentative, vindictive, snobs. Just wanted to let you all know it is a pleasure to converse with people who don't seem to feel the need to be that way. Thanks.

Just kidding, we are a good bunch, and glad to have you here.

Crazy: I do cameras too Canon EOS and Mamiya rb67. Can't get enough physical activity out of it though even the mamiya shutter. Larry
As a professional photog I find your statement absolutely incorrect. Photographers NEVER abuse each other. We NEVER pick on anyone else's work or make snide remarks, etc.
Oh wait, yes we do!
You should work at a newspaper if you want rude behavior...especially when it comes to someone else's pictures. Photojournalists can be the worst, and I should know. That's how I earn the mediocre dollars.
The bike forums are USUALLY a little more composed I agree. There have been some instances though...

I have both systems if you're wondering, Nikon and Canon.
G'day,
on behalf of cyclists everywhere...we thanks ya for ya kind words....Now, seeing as I've never heard of a frame from 'nikon' or 'canon'.....or even how many carbs it might have if they is a food......nick off,
regards,
Hitchy

Hey Crazy-B - are you a professional photography in Iowa? Just curious. I'm from Iowa and I love photography, but I'm no pro. Just a lowly shutterbug with an FE2 and a couple nice primes.

No, I don't make a living at taking pictures, I sell cameras for a living. I do have my own studio though that I built when I was a contractor.

Give it time, their true colors will shine right through any day now.

I'm a photo enthusiast too. Pres. of our small local Nature Photography club with a few local calendar credits. Would love to actually make money with my photography someday, but it's fun to dream isn't it? I had toyed with the idea of buying a new digital SLR this spring, but knew it would be a slippery financial slope of new computer, accessories, etc. So what did I do?
Bought a new bike instead! Funny how we had the money for that, eh? You can see my bikes on the "What Road bike do you have?" forum under ROAD BIKING. I still don't have a carbon fiber tripod, but by golly, I can ride my new LeMond!
Nikon, Nikon, Nikon.

Nikons rule. I shoot with an F100 and AN old FG. No digital yet. Definitely a new road bike before a new camera. Looks to me like bikers are just as big a junkies as photogs are! Now what am I going to do? Two expensive habits.

Throw piranhas and tattoos into the mix, and you have my no-money-for-ANYTHING life. :)
Do you have a shop, or are you an internet entrepreneur (like so many of us who refuse to be called "unemployed")?

I used to raise ciclids, and that was a big bowl of water to melt money into.

I find the folks here much nicer than the folks on Craigslist Rants & Raves (NYC)... that place is a cesspool for the dregs of society... but sadly I think it's amusing in a sick way.
