I ride twice a day , a 30 mile loop and a 20 mile loop . I now weigh 219 . In april I weighed 247 . My morning ride is usually at a brisk pace for the 1st 20 . About a 20 mph average then I drop down to 16 for the last 10 . My late afternoon ride is 20 miles at about 21 MPH , Many climbs as well as a nice bit of flats .I used to lift alot of wieghts , but , I have decided to limit my weight training to two easy workouts a week until I reach my goal of losing the little body fat I have left . I also hope to lose some muscle . I want to weigh 195 . Then I will be ready for some racing for small cash prizes . Any experts out thier wanna give some tips ?
I think I can lose 8 more pounds of body fat , Ill be cut then , then I guess some muscle . Is this wise ?

Im retired and 45 , rode a hybird for a year , and now I ride a road bike .
Rest and recover. Going hard, riding the same route, or not varying workout will lead to overtraining quick. Take some Long Slow distance days and just light ride days. Your body needs it.
Congratulations! You've have done exceptionally well.
Weights twice a week for all around muscle tone is good with that kind of mileage.
If you want to add something to your fitness, start keeping a record of your resting heart rate in the morning before you get out of bed. After about 3-6 months of that, you'll have a base pattern you can observe and use to determine how hard you should work each day. If it's higher than normal, more rest.
Also, a good book to read is Serious Cycling by Ed Burke. It will help you mentally and physically prepare for winning the big bucks when you start racing. :)

Whoa! Congratulations on the weight loss. It really seems like you are doing great. I say as long as you are staying healthy (no crazy fad diets to lose the weight), and resting enough losing a little more shouldn't hurt. You will also be gaining muscle as you lose the fat, so it should change your body composition while you train. Also, thanks for the kind words about the website. It took me quite a while to get it (layout & content wise) to where it is, I (we) just don't update as much as we should.
