Did Magnolia - Hwy 119 loop today - and the dirt road was as smooth as it can be - which makes for a great loop. Of course, Magnolia (the paved part) is insanely tough - 5 miles of constant grade over 8%, with several pitches over 20!!! If someone knows of a tougher 5 mile stretch in the front range, I'd love to know ... (You gain over 2,000 elevation in the first 2+ miles ... and approx 3200 for the whole ride...)
Go big - and give it a try now while the dirt is smooth, the weather warm, and the canyon uncrowded...
You gain over 2,000 elevation in the first 2+ miles.
brutal! :twitchy:
WOW Magnolia is smooth? Thats hard to believe. I lived off MAgnolia for 11 years from 83-94 and it's always seemed one of the worst washboarded roads in the Front Range. Much worse than Gap/Twin Spruce. I've been thinking about a MAgnolia ride recently. This could be the push I need.
Down Boulder Canyon then up MAgnolia and I'm almost home.
