Heard about it on the car radio Tuesday evening. Anyone have an update other than this (http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/0px-14066-style-font.html)?

Geez, no. I was trying to keep up on this fire. Thanks for the heads up, I think my plans to ride Angeles Crest from Charlton to Big Pines will have to wait.

The 7 acre fire just east of Wrightwood mentioned in the Daily Press article is out. However, there is mention of smoke from a fire near Azusa.

Fire make air cr@ppy. Here in Burbank air worse than normal. See smoke everywhere. Smell like ash.

Morrow ride cancelled. Maybe Friday.

It looks pretty nasty in Azusa, and to the west, but it's nice and clear down south. It looks like PV or OC are the places to ride this week.

I'm hoping Calabasas will be far enough to be smoke free. Anyone out near there can confirm?

See fire cloud creep northwest across valley towards Northridge. See smoke from Cresenta Valley behind Verdugo in Burbank. Everything orange.

Good. Then I've got a rolling 40 mile route leaving Calabasas Commons at 8:30 tomorrow. Everyone is welcome to join. I've got at least 3 people going already (Scoot, Kara, and myself).

I saw a nice group stopped at the Fernwood Market on TCB at 7 am this morning. The closer you stay to the coast in the am, the better off you will be. Gettin' hot round these parts.

I'm heading to Woodland Hills shortly. I'll do a sniff test and report back later.

Edit: Just returned. If the wind doesn't shift dramatically overnight, a ride beginning in Calabasas will probably be just fine. No smokey air near Woodland Hills and Topanga Canyon.

I could smell smoke climbing Encinal and Mulholland yesterday and around Yerba Buena - nothing too bad but it might affect someone who is particularly sensitive. Also, PCH from Pepperdine to Zuma is still pretty messed up due to resurfacing. Even in areas that are resurfaced (most of the westward lanes) there's still a lot of crap on the shoulders. Riding from Zuma to Latigo a few days ago put a coat of grime on me and my bike - including globs of tar...

The air was clear in Calabasas and points west (and we could see where the smoke was looming over San Gabriel), but it was scorching hot by 9am.

I also finished my Topanga Canyon ride by 9. It was perfect. Now it's hazy and crappy hot. Anyone wanna ride/:rolleyes:

Sure. I'm riding at the ADT Velodrome this evening. Forecast is 75 degrees all day every day, with a 0% chance of rain.

Damn, I wanted to ride to Crystal Lake this weekend. Looks like it's gonna be a ride up Hwy 38 to Onys summit. Big Bear air should be clean

So are you saying there's smoke on PCH? I was going to go out there cuz it's too smokey in Silverlake.

the air quality was fine around the Santa Monica Mts today - but it was HOT. Even by 10 am it felt like a blow dryer on the descents. PCH shoulders around Latigo - Zuma still pretty chewed up.

A new fire just started in Rancho Palos Verde. Is that near PCH too?

On the completely opposite side of the Santa Monica Bay. So when you're in Malibu that little hill you see on the South end of the bay is Palos Verdes.
