Road Cycling - Does anyone make a 25.4 road handlebar these days?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a 1" threadless stem that is a bit older, or maybe it's designed for a mountain bike, because the clamp (not removeable) diameter is 25.4 mm. The road bike standard is 26.0, and I've seen a few 25.8 bars (I'll not mention the new oversize standard). From what I've read online, 25.4 used to be an older European standard that is apparently rare these days.
I'm having a hard time finding a 25.4 road bar. Does anyone know where I can get one?

unless there's something special about that stem, i'd replace it with one of the million quilled stems with a 26.0 clamp for sale cheap around the internet and then have your choice of bars, rather than go crazy trying to find a bar to fit it.

It should fit without too much trouble. Maybe prop it open a bit with a flathead screwdriver. However, if its a mountain bike stem, probably you won't be able to mount the bar, it'll be too wide to make it around the bends.

www.harriscyclery.com has a couple. There is also one in the Quality Bike Parts catalog. Your LBS can order it for you.
