View Full Version : Visor for Giro Pneumo

I just bought a Giro Pneumo. Unfortunately it does not come with a visor. I really thought it did as the older (pre-2004 or 2003) models did as I read in several on line reviews, etc.

I really like helmet visors and find the lack of a visor to be annoying withe extra glare on sunglasses. I know some don't care for them, but I find them very helpful here in the very bright sun.

The LBS wont let me return the helmet as I used it once for a test ride. I really should have checked the packing first, but assumed it was in there in the plastic bag. Yes I am kicking myself for not checking this, but I was so focused on fit and comfort.

Does anyone know of a visor solution? I do not want to wear a hat as I bought the Pneumo for the extra airflow.

ps - please do all a favor and not turn this into a helmet debate. A visor debate would be fine ;)

Don't know if it would work, but you could try one of those visor/headbands, or one of these ...http://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photos/medium/HS-TTC.3.gif

I saw a guy at a charity ride this spring that had a visor attached by velcro. All you need is a visor from another helmet & you're in "bidness"

I've seen generic visors in larger LBS and maybe in the catalogs too.

Well I did my research before buying it. In fact the web site for the very bike store from where I bought it specifically lists that it has a visor for the 2004 model - it was this web site and price that inspired me to head over to the store and buy it:
http://www.supergo.com/profile.cfm?LPROD_ID=24685&lsubcat_id=1561&lcat_id=7604&referpage=

And this review I read also indicates it has a visor as to many other on-line reviews of the Pnuemo:

Maybe try contacting Giro, through your bike store, or independently, and telling them your's did not come with a visor... if it didn;t come with one, maybe they would just float you one.

Ask shop to look in another box. It is possible that it was missing from the factory.

Make sure you talk to a manager or the owner. Hired help may not have authority to fix problems, just make them worse.

So I contacted them by phone (before I went in person to try and return it) and talked to the local manager and re-explained and pointed out that their website says in comes with a visor - he checked and agreed, but that it was a typo that the 2004 model does not. He agreed for a swap with the Giro E2. I will check that it fits as good as the Pneumo before taking the swap though.

It seems odd to make such a big deal out of a little visor, but believe me the difference in glare on my glasses between my old helmet with one and the Pneumo was quite noticiable and frustrated me after spending so much money.

Good for the LBS manager! He recognized that they made an error in their advertising and made good on it. That's a good way to keep a customer coming back.

I just bought a Giro E2 a couple months ago.. fits great... nearly as good as the Pneumo I tried on... and a few dollars less

Yes, I exchanged for the E2 and it is just as comfortable. Worked great for my ride home yesterday. But because it was an exchange, it was the same price.
