I just discovered I'm the WORST kind of ebay shopper. The one that doesn't look close enough at the item description and then BIDS? Yeah, I'm ashamed. :o
I've decided to take up snowboarding. Have been prowling my local CL for a used board-- anything, really to get out and start learning this season. Nothing much in my size. Since it costs $30/a shot to rent, I figure Its worth about $200 for me to buy something, and just get out there.
So I went to ebay, and I bid... on a board that is a kid's board- which is fine, because I'm kid-sized and want something shorter for learning, but when I looked closer at the image, its got some kind of transformer gargoyle-ish monster on it.
:crash:
owell. in 6 more hours someone might outbid me, or it will be just fine once it gets covered in snow.
its kinda like this one, but with bindings I couldn't really see the gargoyle.

Just rock the gargoyle.
If it's a good board, ride it. Folks get too hung up on the graphics, so much so they'll buy a new board just to get the "latest" graphics. Suckers I tell ya...suckers, like folks that buy Burtons. :innocent:

What would you prefer? Be careful of the alternatives (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=564213)...

Well...let's just say that out of all the board brands out there, I saw more Burtons turned in for warranty than any other brand. Could be that there's just more of them sold, but I saw a few destroyed on the first run, and saw boards like Ventures never come back even once.
I will give Burton this: They are one of the best for honoring their warranties...the downside being that buying one on eBay means no warranty.

My friend Larry used to rock a chick board with a big sunflower on it and a hot pink base because it was his size and he found it on a closeout deal.
I wanted something awesome, but back when I used to board the only super-wide was the Morrow Lunchtray, and it was plain boring blue; so I stickered the heck out of it.

what if it was a gargrrl?
I have a youth sized snowboard that you can have free, with bindings, and boots if I have your size. Cancel your bid and send me a PM
that is actually x136. You could get him to sign it and have a collectors item.

well, I was outbid. I would have taken the gargoyle board for the top price I posted in the first place- but considering its August and snow (surprisingly) won't fly here for awhile, I'll shop around.
Graphics on snowboards are so exceptionally obnoxious. And not the good kind of obnoxious. I had to search high and low for something that didn't make me feel like I should have to sag my pants and take up graffiti in order to even own the damn thing.

You can't even see the graphics when you are boarding anyways. And you shouldn't be looking at it as well. If you do, you are doing it wrong.
As others have said, the graphics don't really matter much, nobody will be able to see them when you are riding.
Here's what my board looks like...
