I was surfing craigslist and came across a 2008 Dahon Jetstream P8, but it didn't look right. The seller stated that it had just been serviced at the LBS.

I emailed him and told him not to ride his bike until it was fixed properly. He had taken it to the shop to have the recalled handlepost replaced and while doing this work they installed it 180 out of whack so that the front suspension fork faced backwards.

Somehow the owner didn't even notice this, because he took multiple photos and posted it on CL to sell.

He thanked me for pointing it out and was taking it back to the shop to have it fixed. He even said that this is a shop that he has working on all of his bikes. I am not sure which is more sad, the owner or the shop.

Anyway, thought I would share this chuckle :roflmao2: with everyone.

It must be an epidemic. Here is a Tucson CL post of another Dahon Jetstream P8 with the fork on back asswards.

Also, do you really need a thudbuster on a full suspension bike?

Actually, with all of the extras on this bike the price is quite good. I sold 3 stock JP8s for $550.

I would find it amusing except that I was guilty of the same thing on my first trip with my Bike Friday.

I had taken it along on a business trip to London and rode out to Oxford after the meetings were over. The next morning when I was assembling the bike I was distracted a little by a homeless man who kept wandering over but got the bike together and set off for Windsor Castle. But on the way I noticed that it was unusually easy to lift the rear wheel when braking. That caused me to check out the bike a little more closely and I realized that the front fork was flipped around thereby making the wheelbase significantly shorter.

I guess it would increase the trail on the bike considerably.
