Mountain Biking - New Fork....free frame?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ijust placed an order with Transition Bikes out of seattle. I have been looking for a good DC fork for my dh bike to replace my jrT. I am pretty cheap and looked all over for the best deal. This was easily it. I ended up getting a Manitou Slider SPV +. I have been wanting to seriously test something besides marzocchi for a while (I have done test rides but something more long term) and this was my chance.
NORMAL
Fork alone costs (This is for the 04 not the 05 I am getting) - 800$
TRANSITION
Frame and Fork cost - 899$ american
Thats basically this frame free

And a new version of this fork cheap

Don't know what to do with the frame yet. I have been wanting a dj/street bike for a while. I will have to figure that out when it gets here.
Will post pics of the real product when it gets here. About a month or so for the fork to get to the shop, but I think it will be worth the wait.

Next time you are looking for a bike to build. Check out transtion. Strong frames, good local support and better prices.

hahaha...I am surprised you didn't post a picture of the bighit extended kit. I might build up a ss dirtjumper. Cheapest solution and at least I would have a use for it :)

Yea that is what I envision for that frame too. BTW... no luck finding you a "big link" I'm going to check on e-bay and see what they have there.

I have been keeping an eye out. If I can't find one I have a secondary plan for next year. :D...I don't want to dish out the cash for the 'aftermarket' ones...
If you check ridemonkey there is a thread about the biglink right now. What I had assumed is happening. The biglink isn't being made anymore...because the bighits are likely done in a year or two. :(

So whats the plan? I'm going to call Dave at Risse and see what they have.

Plan 1
Sell roast
Leave bighit as trail/freeride bike/some dh
Buy a bigger travel bike for dh
Build Transition as street/dj bike
Will have to see how things work. I get some good discounts at a couple of stores so I tend to pay less for full bikes (ironhorse for example I get gooood deals on) Otherwise if I can find kit at a good price
Plan 2
Build bighit up as dh bike
Build roast up further with a new improved fork for trails and light fr
Build transition as street/djer
Two plans depends on certain outcomes :D (thanx for the help btw. You are really working hard to get me an extended kit haha)
