Southern California - Firemen

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
In that kind of heat the last few days, firefighting is one beast of a job. Check the pic of the guys climbing the ridge above La Canada in full gear and lugging heavy equipment. Argh.
Props to these guys trying to do the job and save the areas we love to ride through.:thumb:

A lot of those people lugging the gear up those hills and cutting lines around the fires are Camp Crews. They are made up of either inmates (men's, women's, and juvenile crews) or young Fire Suppression Aids who are trying to get on as full time firefighters. These are hard working badasses. Not to discount the hard work of the Fire Fighters, but Camp Crews hardly ever get the respect they deserve.
