Hello there,

I recently picked up this bike off Kijiji in my area but have decided that it may be too small to ride comfortably even as a commuter. I've considered getting a larger seat post but I'm also wondering if I could sell it for a reasonable price and pick out something else.

The bike is all original down to the brake cables and bar tape. Overall it works fine minus a hole in the front tire which needs to be replaced. How much do you think I could get for this bike in the Toronto marketplace (Just fyi it is a notoriously inflated market so I think I may be able to fetch a little more than expected)

Thanks for all your info. ps it's a 54cm frame and the componenets are as follows:

Shimano SIS front and rear Derailleur
SR Champion Bars
Sakae SX Crank
Dia-Compe Brakes
Shimano Aero Levers
Not sure on the headset or bottom bracket (nothing special like the rest)

Here are the pics:

What tubing did they use on that model? It varied over the years.

You need to get the bike totally ride ready (new tire). Buyers want bikes ready to go.

In a regular market, like around here, assuming the tubing is some grade of cromoly and not high ten steel, $225. I can only imagine what it would be in Toronto, perhaps $300?

Even though it is a low end model, Miyatas are highly respected, and they continually upgraded the lower models, so it is a pretty good bike.

According to the 1988 catalogue (judging by the paint job this is the model) and a sticker on the frame, the tubing is Miyata Special Tubing. Not sure exactly what that is but wikipedia says that it is a triple butted chromoly tubing, whereas sheldon brown believes it may be maganese . Unfortunately the fork is Hi tension steel.

Thanks for the info!
