Folding Bikes - Speed TR Tours Mainland Japan

Dusted off the Speed TR today and took a romp through Iwakuni Japan. It was a shakedown as tomorrow (weather permitting) I'm taking it on a longer ride.

Only did about 30 km. today and did some mountainous stuff with it. The SpeedTR was loaded to the max and it climbs very well loaded. Great gearing and never wore myself out even on some ridiculous hills.

Took a car trip today about 40 klicks south and found an LBS that looks very awesome. Dahon and Trek bikes. To keep this on the subject they had a KHS (I think it was KHS) folding bike I fell in love with.

Here's the KHS bike I saw in the shop. I was a little perplexed because I couldn't find it on the US site. Seems to be an Asian only offering, I think.

The one at the shop was yellow and it was AWESOME.

Did you see it folded at all? does the rear end swing up like a birdie or is it fixed?

I didn't see it folded but I'll go back down and look at it in a week or two. It has my interest peaked.

The R 20 folds to it's left (opposite of the polished latch) Like some Japanese car variants, they are hard to find outside of Japan. Certainly not on the KHS USA website. The fold is a bit bulky, about the same as say a Dahon TR of Speed 8. I have an 18 in wheeled version, the Cappuccino which can handle a bit of light touring, www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/cappuccino
