Gals,

Seen many threads about shoes, but I have wide feet like little tanks (thanks to my Slavic heritage!) I usually wear a wide in street shoes when it's available unless the brand/style runs particularly wide. Any suggestions for road shoes for the wide-footed woman?

I'd look at Sidis. They typically fit a "wide" foot. Speaking from a guy's perspective.

I wear guys shoes because they're usually wider.

Sidi Dominator/Genius Megas work for my broad man-feet. Just wish they weren't so expensive.

for mtn bike shoes this is a rant for me...as a guy i have very wide feet...part is my feet are wide, but even more so from having flat feet...

so I ended up buying regular width shoes...and after the sides started sagging from my foot's width finally deforming them..the heel is loose :(

Really...I wish there were wide sizes that were more common in cycle footwear.

I also have wide feet. I wear mens shoes for biking. I just got me some pearl izumi vagabond road shoes that fit great! I have diadora MTB shoes that I used before that.

It's harder to find regular shoes. Mens shoes do pretty good but are sometimes too loose in the heel. I discovered SAS shoes almost a year ago and pretty much just wear those now. They have a size to fit any foot! The white ones look like athletic shoes instead of granny shoes. I also have brn suade for jeans. I've had good luck with vasque hiking boots also.

I'm only 5'4'', I have size 8 to 8.5 in mens shoes! You would think because they are so big they would be sturdy but they are frail and painful! It's just not fair!

Margo,
my cycling shoes hurt until I bought Sidis. Over the years everything I tried hurt. Slip a pair of Sidi Dominators on, both the regular and the Megas, in a bike shop sometime. I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

My advice would be to consider using a shoe stretcher. I have a wide feet and for the past 15 years I have tried too many shoes to mention so I finally tried using a shoe stretcher. Here's the thing the shoe has to have a full mesh toebox so that it will allow for stretching to take place. I placed the stretcher in the shoe and then I leave them in the sun all day. By the end of the day they are stretched perfectly.
In summer sun whether that is, I found the hotter temperature work's much better. Just a thought to consider.
