United Kingdom - How many from UK?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just joined this forum, from West Oxfordshire. Got a club in my village - Le Club Velo des Moutons Noirs - and ride in the Cotswolds and over Lambourn Downs. I also ride in London on a Dixie that I use as a commuter, and it's fine. You just need to dominate the road and be really aggressive all the time.

Davie from Edinburgh signing in.
I'll whisper this, but the weather's a dawdle compared to the last two winters, isn't it? If that's the kiss of death and the blizzards start tomorrow, blame me!
Anyone looking for an afternoon ride buddy, get in touch. If I promise someone to go out, I can't put it off - but can think of lots of reasons to do other things if I only have to answer to me :o)

Hiya
I'm from Manchester, signed up a few days ago:)
Commuting from Sale which is where I live into Manchester Centre wouldnt be too bad.
If you're brave you can take the canal towpath route which is part resurfaced and part treacherous but quicker than the road route and more direct.
Otherwise either Sale, Stretford, Brigewater Way or for the cycling suicidal, there's always Oxford Road in rush hour, then again no.:(:(
Not with hundreds of buses competing for space in an ever narrowing road.

It's just started to be sunny here in Socal on a regular basis after being a really strange "winter". Where abouts are you moving to?

We're moving to Santa Cruz! I'm looking forward to a little less rain (hopefully).

Welcome to the Golden State. You'll get great weather most of the year, definitely an upgrade from the UK, but in the winter the Santa Cruz mountains are one of the wettest parts of the NorCal (greater bay area) coastal region.

It'll still be better than where I hail from originally, which is Chicago. I started year-round commuting there in 2002. The winters are icy cold, snowy and long. I figure anything is better than that!
Just wondering how many people from the UK are registered with this forum? :) I haven't come across anyone else yet.
Andy UKIve been a member a longish time but an infrequent visitor to site. I'm in Norfolk on the coast. Just obtained a Raleigh 4speed ,need some Raleigh Green paint, about 1 pint would be nice .
Any ideas or advice anyone?.

Hi. I've been in Leeds in Yorkshire now for nearly 40 years but started cycling in London and with the Tooting Bicycle club in the late 60s. I left a message in the introductions thread to see if I could contact old TBC members from my time there and so far have had 2 responses.

I gave up racing in the 80s and hardly rode at all for 20 years. I started again about a year ago and am hoping to get back into social riding and perhaps the odd sportive. Its great to see so many Brits on here.

Does originating from the UK (Devon, then Oxon. until 1983) count?
(Just notice I've been here, and done this… Here's my original post Originally from Braunton (Glorious Devon); moved to Abingdon-on-Thames (Oxon); moved to USA in 1983; been here ever since…

Another originating from the UK (Bedford), been in Houston since 1999. Any other Bedfordians around?
Hi, Dunno if I've put my name down here before (memory's slowing....), I'm from Lichfield, Staffordshire, UK. Only been out 4 times in the last 4 months, so bloody cold! Went out yesterday in nice, cool weather, took my time and ambled around 40 miles. Really enjoyed myself at last on my bike.
