After a couple years of MTB racing, I got to do my first road race this year. I entered with a bunch of my teammates, and we agreed to ride as a team, nobody gets dropped unless they agree to until the final sprint.
I had a great time. And we did way, way better than we expected to. I manged to do pretty well in that final sprint and earned a 6th overall, even though the lead pack dropped us early on.
I'm thinking about doing some more road racing next season, but given the lack of road races in this area, I'm going to be doing some traveling.
So, anybody in the great lakes region want to do some road racing? MI, WI, MN, IL, MI are all easily within a days drive from me. If we can get a group of people together for a race, it should be fun. I don't care how slow we go, as long as we finish.
I'll bring the beer. It'll be a great time, promise. :D
