Professional Cycling For the Fans - LeMond criticizes Armstrong?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Lemond does seem bitter. When Armstrong won his 4th Tour, I began to read in interviews about how Lemond was a 'virtual 4 time winner'. And in the last few months, I read another interview where he basically said he was the 'virtual' winner of the Tours from 1985-1990, and that he probably would have won in 1991 and maybe 1992 if it wasn't for the lingering effects of his hunting accident.
There is the factor of his bicycle investment. In years down the road, people are going to be less likely to buy a "Lemond" bicycle by the name as they would for a brand like "Trek". Maybe he is a little paranoid or something.

If he is paranoid, he is definitely not doing anything to help sell his Brand.

I know. People make mistakes, and he will probably regret his words.

I'll be sporting my new 2010 full neuro-carbon Armstrong Express with the brand new 36 speed cassette. :)
It might be possible that the LeMond brand could become damaged goods. I wouldn't be at all suprised that Trek Bicycles would drop the LeMond bike line and just blow out the bikes already at the dealers. Trek may even repaint/rebadge current LeMond bikes that haven't left the factory as Treks and/or offer that service (for a nominal cost) for current LeMond owners!

I as a newbie looking at bikes right now, I had thought of a Lemond but after his words this week decided against it. Why would I support such a bitter man? Who stands up and talks outta his rear end against a fellow AMERICAN cyclist.
Just my two cents.....half price till midnight.....
