Got into a discussion with a friend about this... Im under the impression that there are not too many actual bike manufacturers in Canada or US.

I believe Canondale make their own frames...

most I think are made in Taiwan and just renamed - like there are these very standard "mountain bike" frames that I have seen with many different names on them. I used to have a Nakumara fixed mountain bike like 15 years ago. Now I see the same frame represented as Renegade as well as some other CCM names.

Then I noticed a Supercycle bike that said "made in Canada" on it....

Supercycle is Canadian Tire's brand name for bikes but they dont build the frames do they? Does anyone know where Supercycle frames are built?

what about Raleigh? do they build frames in North America or are they outsourced as well?

I'm grasping at straws here, but I believe unless it's high end custom, it's mass produced somewhere on the other side of the Pacific.

when I was in the business years ago Cannondale and trek were the only 'mass producers' making bikes (frames actually) here in the states. most all bike companies cantract one of the big four or so manufacturing plants in the orient to make bikes to their specs. over in the C&V threads some of the guys and girls can tell you who made what back in the old days like some univegas were built by miyata and so on.
