I was in Village Cycle in Chicago a few days ago, and I was thinking about buying the jersey and they happened to have them there. But when I look at the price, they are selling the jersey for $120! Am I on an unknown crack high, or are we getting gouged here?

Trekbikes.com is selling it for 99.99 https://store.trekbikes.com/shopping/product_detail.jsp?product_id=5824&category_id=541 and even at Treks price we are getting SCREWED! It's just a jersey. What gives!

uh. you normally pay like $70 to 80 for regular ones anyway (from what i've seen of people here).. so what's teh big deal? if you can blow $80 on some fabric ans string.. why not $100?

Koff you're not the one on crack. It may be the ones deciding on the price and definitely anyone that would pay it. -;)

Dear, it's not $100, it's $120 (ONE HUNDERED AND TWENTY DOLLARS). There's a big difference between $70- 80 for a jersey and $120 for a jersey. The problem is, other team jerseys I've seen online are going for 70- 80 bucks, then I walk into Village, and it's going for $120! I'm even willing to pay $70- 80, but there's something suspicious to me when one lone store has aggressively marked up their price.

I'm not sure if you're understanding my question. I'm not complaining about the price itself, I'm wondering if the shop marked up their price, or if the price of the USPS jersey is truly that price.

There's one shop in town that has all these 'Ride with Lance' signs up everywhere... They had a bunch of jerseys, and that's where I bought my first one... I didn't even look at the USPS ones though - I went to the clearance rack. I'm sure that other things (very visible trek road bike as you walk in the door with said sign for instance) were marked up, but it seemed like some of their other stuff was on sale, so the signs being only on the marked up merchandise wouldn't look weird....

The procyclegear links don't work at all. Do you guys have any alternatives?

I thought the price was a bit higher than normal. I tried to find the jerseys online at places like performancebike.com, sierratradingpost.com and nashbar.com, but none of these other places had the jersey, so I thought I'd ask here.

If they're imported from Italy, I may just have a friend send me one from Italy! Or maybe it costs more because the euro is so much higher than the dollar right now?

I've only seen one... dude is out every morning in his USPS gear and Trek bike. But if it makes him feel faster... to each his own!

Only for the nostalgia, since USPS will not be sponsoring them after this year. In 5 years time, it'll look like the 7-11 jerseys that the diehards have (like Levi's brother had on this morning at the start of stage 11 :) ).

I always see this guy in his full USPS gear in the local loop too. I kind of feel bad for him cause while we're all in the paceline pushing 26-28, he's doing about 13-14 but he's always there as much as the other guys are.
He's not rude or anything, rides to the side so the faster riders get the space. Kind of puts him into the "devoted fan" category rather than "wannabe" category.

Sounds like the dude loves the bike (which is a rarer quality than one might think :( )

you guys are nuts spending 70, 80 and even 100 on a fabric with logos on it.
i but generic ones for 20$, personally i would not buy any jersey over 30$

Neither would I normally, but as I said, this is for the nostalgia, since USPS will be no more after this year.

Wow, $120 for a shirt. I hate consumerism. [grumble grumble] Go to the office and stare at a computer all week so you can get lots of paper with pictures of dead guys on it, and then you can trade that in for a bunch of widgets that you don't really need. Sheesh. [grumble grumble]

Seriously though, that's freakin a lot of money for a shirt.

Yeah, and so far, this bike shop is the most expensive price for those jerseys. Village sucks.

Mug a mailman and steal his uniform. It'll give the phrase "We Deliver for You" a whole new meaning.

Just trying to inject some humor into the thread Mr. Ashcroft

How about the skinsuit? How much does it cost?? It looks real cool and seems really comfortable, but I'm not sure if I can get it over here. No luck on ebay though.

Oh, I think I see now. Anyone who wears team replica jerseys is a slow, pitiful poseur, while you real cyclists are out doing 28 mph in the paceline. What do you real cyclists wear?

I don't know, you obviously didn't read the 2nd paragraph of my post so you tell me.

Diggy I hear you about the consumeristic United States. It's funny I look at the Ten Commandments and it says, "Thou shall not covet." Well, coveting is the basis of our economy. When you look and see that your friend has something cool, and you want it too you buy it.

I have no friends that wear the jersey. I really don't care for the people who ride and wear the jersey. I have no interest in wearing the jersey. As I stated before, it's for the NOSTALGIA, since US Postal is no more as of 2005. So whatever logic you have about wanting something that my friend wore, is off.
